THE HELP

Intrepid Media is staffed by an angry pack of very talented people.
Hip like adidas. Smart like Velma. Good looking like a Swedish rock band.

click me joe procopio email
publisher/founder
Joe Procopio hopes to start trading on his own name very soon, because too many people know what Max Barry looks like these days. He's written for a number of online and offline publications from the late, lamented Smug to the fancy-pants Chicago Tribune and also for television (Hip Hop Nation, Undiscovered Genius). He's a novelist, a shredder, and a joker, but also a family man, just not in that horrible Nic Cage way.

click me jael mchenry email
editor-in-chief
Jael is tired of being stereotyped as just another novelist/poet/former English teacher/tour guide/"Jeopardy!" semifinalist/bellydancing editor-in-chief with an MFA who was once an overachieving oboe-playing alto newspaper editor valedictorian from Iowa. She was also captain of the football cheerleading squad.

click me adam kraemer email
senior editor
A native of Elkins Park, PA, Adam Kraemer spends way too much of his time repeating "K-R-A-E..." He moved to New York City in 1998 and earned Master's in Journalism at NYU; don't let his writing fool you. He feels he is best known for saying the things no one is thinking, but afterwards wish they had been. He spends his free time wondering where all his free time goes and why he can never come up with a decent kicker for the ends of his articles.

click me michelle von euw email
senior sports analyst
Michelle writes, and attempts to teach college students how to write, too. Occasionally, she'll watch sports, or television, or sports on television.

click me mike julianelle email
angry young man
31. Male. Brooklyn. Married! Marketing. Boston Red Sox. Miami Dolphins. Boston College. Movies, music, television. Dostoyevsky. Klosterman. Brunettes. Want more? Read up.

click me tracey kelley email
fairy godmother
Tracey likes to shake things up and then take the lid off. She also likes to keep the peace, especially in a safe, fuzzy place. She is the owner of re: communications, mainly because she was caught running with scissors in the corporate world and, well, people started to talk.

click me erik lars myers email
corner pub bureau chief
an expert with pints, a master with yards, erik lars myers is a professional beer drinker. he has been drinking beer for various professional organizations and charity causes for years and is pleased to be able to lend his ample beer gut for the good of others. his current pet projects include two websites (the people's regime and thebrewguide.com), growing his own hops, culturing yeast from the dregs of your bottle of beer and far, far too many video games.

click me jason gilmore email
smooth optimist
Jason Gilmore was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio and has a BA in film studies from the University of Pittsburgh. He currently lives in Los Angeles.

click me jeffrey d. walker email
chief white house correspondent
A practicing attorney and semi-professional musician, Walker writes for his own amusement, for the sake of opinion, to garner a couple of laughs, and to perhaps provoke a question or two, but otherwise, he doesn't think it'll amount to much.

click me heather m. millen email
golden goddess
Heather has a penchant for drama, both personally and professionally. She secretly wishes people spoke in song and wholeheartedly believes that everyone deserves a standing ovation now and again. She finds it appalling that people reserve champagne only for special occasions, when champagne is clearly best on a Tuesday, while riding the subway, accompanying a slice of kick-ass pizza.

click me russ carr email
watcher
Russ is available for YOU! A qualified graphic designer, manager, art director, advisor, consultant, publisher, editor, writer and SO MUCH MORE wrapped up in an attractive mobile case. Please take the time to examine Russ' professional credentials by downloading his resume, won't you?

click me maigen thomas email
bohemian wanderer
Living isn't always easy - there's questions like where, when, how, why and 'How much is that going to cost?' - but it sure is fun.

click me alex b email
exotic import
A happy-go-lucky raspberry swirl in a decidedly vanilla world, Alex B has a head for business, a bod for sin, and a weakness for ice cream during all seasons. As a bonus, she is even equipped with a wide range of big words to choose from. (Don't let her deceive you when she bats her lashes. She owns a whip).

WHAT THIS IS

WHAT IS INTREPID MEDIA?

A DIY Fame Engine.

A website that enhances your ability to build name recognition.

Intrepid Media is a portal, a community, and a magazine. The portal is a place for writers, musicians, artists of all stripes, to show off, discuss, and better their work. The community is dedicated to helping one another realize their artistic vision. Every other day, Intrepid Media publishes new, original content that focuses on the process of realizing that vision and well as criticism and appreciation of media (books, movies, music, tv) and culture (tech, family, lifestyle, etc.). These columns, invariably entertaining, humorous, and provocative, are lovingly penned by a dozen dedicated staff writers, a group that rivals any in talent and wit, as well as the cream of the crop from our gallery, a place where anyone, anywhere, anytime can write and post a column on whatever topic they wish.

It is this formula, simple in theory - complex in practice, that produces not only the most intriguing content available on a recurring basis - we like to refer to it as a collection of those singular articles that prompt you to buy an entire magazine - but also lends itself to a perpetual raising of the bar in quality, versatility, and hilarity.

The community aspects play on many levels. Throughout the website, there are points of contact where readers can discuss or critique the work of the writers, anonymously or publicly. A proprietary messaging system promotes instant contact both within and outside the network without sacrificing privacy. And various levels of membership foster ever-stronger relationships between members, such as messageboards at the premium level or promotional events across the country that are advertised to the public.

Why do all these people spend all this time producing all this content? To trade on their name. Intrepid Media is a portal that assists its members in self-promotion, be it an all-in-one website to document and categorize their work or archived advice from seasoned professionals on marketing, career-building, or even plain old motivation.

You get out of Intrepid Media exactly a little bit more than what you put into it. Through technology, vision, and flat-out commitment, the network has grown organically, thrived, produced lifelong relationships, discovered fresh new talent, and entertained a vast number of people since 1999.

Join up. Remark. Contribute. Tell us how you got where you are. Tell us how you're getting where you're going.

In other words, show us your stuff.

If we can make Intrepid Media better, please let us know. And, as always, thanks for playing.
